Craziest Thing I've Read in Weeks: Neb. man stole Virgin Mary painting for abortion

Posted by Unknown on 7:38 PM in ,
Hello Good People,

This truth is stranger than any fiction, I've read. Not only did a grown man steal and impregnate a minor, he involved his children in the theft. I don't know what is going on with people these days.

Neb. man stole Virgin Mary painting for abortion
By TIMBERLY ROSS (AP) – 1 day ago

OMAHA, Neb. — A Nebraska man who stole a painting of the Virgin Mary to finance an abortion for a teen he raped has been convicted of first-degree sexual assault and felony theft.

Aurelio Vallerillo-Sanchez, 39, of Omaha pleaded no contest to the charges Friday and faces up to 70 years in prison when sentenced in October, Douglas County prosecutor Brenda Beadle said Saturday.

A call to the county public defender representing Vallerillo-Sanchez wasn't answered Saturday.

Beadle said Vallerillo-Sanchez fled to Mexico with the 300-year-old painting worth $100,000 and the pregnant teen in March 2007.

"The plan was that when they got to Mexico, she was to undergo an abortion," she said.

When an abortion wasn't possible, Vallerillo-Sanchez pushed to have the baby given up for adoption, Beadle said: "He wanted to do everything he could to get rid of this baby 'cause it was evidence against him."

The teen returned to Nebraska after giving birth, the prosecutor said.

Vallerillo-Sanchez was arrested in February after DNA linked him to the September 2006 assault of the then-14-year-old girl.

His children gave police information about the theft during the investigation into the sexual assault. His son told police he served as a lookout as his father stole the painting from St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha. Vallerillo-Sanchez sold the painting for $3,000 in Mexico, his daughter told police.

Vallerillo-Sanchez has been linked to at least four other thefts in the Omaha area, but charges were not filed as part of a plea deal, Beadle said.

(This version CORRECTS that the teen gave birth before returning to Nebraska, not after.)

Poker Face/Make Her Say

Posted by Unknown on 11:55 PM in , ,
Hi Good People,

I like Lady GaGa's unique style. I was talking to my daughter in the car yesterday, she said that she wanted her album. Did I just date myself? I forget that we call them CD's these days. Any who, I thought about it. So far, I've liked all her songs that they play on the radio. My favorite is still "Jut Dance".

A couple of weekends after my Sister visited me, we were talking on the phone about a song with a slowed down version of the Poker Face chorus. She didn't know who it was by but she really liked it. She thought that I would like it too. She told me to listen out for it. Guess what? Two weeks later I heard Kid Cudi's song on the radio. She was right, I did like it. I posted these two together because music is universal and I like them both. Enjoy.

Quote of the Day

Posted by Unknown on 9:21 PM
Hello,

A lot has happened since the last time I posted. My baby sister got married. The wedding was beautiful. I will post pictures, as soon as I can. She has a 3 day celebration. I came early to help and I was one of the last leave to make sure that everything was in order. I read the following quote today. I thought that it was worth sharing. I plan on mediating on it for the remainder of the week.

Have a good one,
Kenya

"You can have anything you want - if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, have anything you desire, accomplish anything you set out to accomplish - if you will hold to that desire with singleness of purpose."

It's a George Michael/Culture Club Kind of Day...

Hello,

I have my Bridesmaid dress. Yeah!!! There was a lot of drama behind this dress. I ordered and paid for it in April. It arrived last week. Honestly, it arrived last week at 1:00 in the afternoon. I had been calling for weeks about this dress. I had a fitting on the same day that it arrived. My Sister came into town on Friday to make sure that it is the length and pined up the way she wants it. I am glad to have the dress. I'll be so happy when I'm at the reception dancing and having a good time.

Yesterday, I watched shows about George Michael and Boy George. Below I posted some of my favorite songs. I really wanted to post "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" If you can picture the video, the jury was in black face. I can't bring myself to post anything that has people in black face. That was one of my favorite Culture Club songs. It still is. I just won't post the video. Hope you enjoy.

Make the most of your day,

Hi Good People,

Mark your calendars on Monday, September 9 at 9:00 PM for Your Life, Your Money. This is family program that everyone can get into...money management. When I entered young adulthood, I knew nothing about money management. Next thing I knew, I was a mother, with no money management skills. I'll watch this with my daughter. I'm sure we'll both learn something.
