Nice Weekend..So glad the weather is beautiful

Posted by Unknown on 8:55 PM in , , ,
Hello Good People,

This was the perfect weekend for me. The weather was perfect. Spoke with my niece about her birthday party. I was able to relax, recharge and complete my paper that is due tomorrow. Praise the Lord. I'm going through a transformation. I made a change to my appearance. I have highlights and a lighter shade of brown. I really like it. It fits the person that I am becoming. Usually, I go darker, jet black to be exact. This is a lighter breezy color. I am becoming lighter and less intense as I get older. Sometimes, I feel like I am 15 years older than I am. I want to enjoy my life. I want to be full of joy and happiness. I want to feel like a young woman, not an old lady.

I saw Our Family Wedding yesterday. It was what I expected, funny. I enjoyed the story line. I will probably buy it and pull it out to watch when my family comes to visit. I hope that they have bonus footage on the DVD. I am sure that they had very funny scenes that didn't make the movie. If you don't know what it is about, here is the trailer. I hope you get a chance to see it.

Common has a new movie coming out with Queen Latifah. I am going to see it. Common is sexy. I don't mind watching him for 90 minutes. Here is the trailer.

It wouldn't be Sunday night if I didn't post a video. I know that people at upset with Chris Brown for what happened between him and Rhianna. I am not one of those people. They are both young. We all make mistakes. This is a good song.

Have a great week,
Kenya

PS I am glad that the healthcare bill passed. There is nothing worse than being sick and not able to go to the doctor. I think that everyone should be allowed to see a doctor and get decent healthcare regardless of their economic status. As everyone knows, you are nothing without your health.

Great October Weekend

Posted by Unknown on 11:02 AM in , , , ,
Hello Good People,

I can’t speak on the workweek, but the weekend has been fabulous. On Friday, I went to the Maxwell concert. Chrisette Michelle and Common were the opening acts. Everyone knows that Chrisette is a songbird, she did her thing. Common is a sexy dude that could do no wrong as far as I’m concerned. The highlights of his performance were: Tribute to hip hop, brought out Bilal and he had a DJ tear down the house on the turntable. Let me not forget to mention that he brought all the sexiness that you see on TV and hear in the records.

I was really glad to see Bilal. I understand that he has a new album coming out. I still listen to the album he released a couple of years ago. If you don’t know whom I’m talking about, here are two of his videos:

Here are my three favorite Common Videos. Yes, I have favorite Common videos.

I LOVE Maxwell. He doesn’t have LL Cool J status. He is getting close, though. If you get a chance to see Maxwell in concert, please go. He has a phenomenal band behind him. The horn section will blow you away. He sang a lot of songs from his new album; be prepared to be acquainted with Maxwell in a way that you haven’t been before. Check out his latest and one of his greatest videos:

Saturday was raining, so I didn’t have my golf lesson. I went to the mall. I bought Faith Evans book, Keep the Faith and a pretty box that I’m using as my hope chest. I haven’t started it yet because I’m reading, Wake Up, I’m Fat by Camryn Manheim. There is a book exchange at the train station I go to every morning. This is my first time picking up a book. So far, it is a pretty good read. I don’t know why I picked it up. It is a good lesson in self-acceptance. I went to a 40th birthday party that was 70’s themed. It was a blast. The birthday girl entered the room to Disco Lady. She made a grand entrance, she had a dance routine down and everything. Some people went all out on their costumes also. It was a real fun evening. This afternoon, I am going to support my friend by going to her Usher Anniversary program at her church.

I feel Blessed, Highly favored, and wealthy with an abundance of riches. I am truly grateful for the experiences I had this weekend.

Loving Life because it loves Me,
Kenya Abney

Fall is Here.

Posted by Unknown on 10:54 PM in ,
Fall is officially here. I leave for work in the dark and come home in the dark. The best thing about daylight savings time is that it is a sign that the holiday season is on its way. The Holidays is my favorite thing about this time of the year. Any who, I’ve noticed people coughing and sneezing around me a lot more. My daughter got a flu shot today. I decided to post some tips to counter the common cold.

1. Eat a lot of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Those foods build up your immune system.
2. Drink water. We all know that it keeps you hydrated. Did you know that water helps distribute nutrients throughout your body and flushes away toxins?
3. Wash your hands throughout the day to avoid spreading germs. Carry hand sanitizer as a back up.
4. Keep your hands away from your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent germs from getting into your body.
5. Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough. Please don’t sneeze or cough into your hands. Use the elbow of your sleeve to avoid spreading your germs.
